Today is 7/7/7 so I am celebrating the unnofficial King Diamond Day. I am currently at work torturing my colleagues with the beautiful sound of "Mother's Getting Weaker". They hate it, and I love the fact they hate it. They are all zombies with the imagination of a single-celled organism. The only language they understand is UB40 and that "boom-boom" shit they have to blast out to remind themselves they are in fact sentient beings.
King would be proud of me, I hope. I get force-fed kitchen radio shit every day, so today is MY music day. Deal with it, I say to them.
Later I will be indulging in The Puppet Master, Them, Conspiracy, Abigail and finally Gimme Your Soul... Please - King's latest masterpiece and best work in 20 years.
777 - LONG LIVE THE KING!!!

Dude, I've had the piss ripped out of me for over twenty years for liking King Diamond. It only makes me love his work all the more. It's an acquired taste shall we say. My wife hates him.
Not listened to Abigail today. Apart from the title track. Just listened to the whole of Them, and I am now halfway through Conspiracy. It's great how the two albums follow on from each other.
Incidentally, has anyone seen Clerks 2? There's two King Diamond songs on it from Them. Jay and Silent Bob blast it out of their ghetto blaster outside the store. They keep referring to King Diamond too. First time I ever heard him or his music mentioned in a film ever.
Kevin Smith is my hero.
Next up is the new album.... again. It really is fucking superb. Musicianship is pretty much out of this world. There are moments on there that remind me so much of early Fate, specially Don't Break The Oath.

7. 7. 07!!!!!!!! Happy King Diamond Day to all of you! I started with Fatal Portrait in order to keep it chronological, but qickly switched over to Voodoo, ' cause the first bunch of tracks from Portrait were only played on the grave of 'LOA House'. So arise! What a song. I almost forgot the story of Sarah and Doctor Le Croix. So this was breakfast. Grandma was let out of her cage around 12 am. A good time for her. In the afternoon you were able to see her sitting round a table together with Abigail and King having a good ol' cup of tea which turned into a 'Dangerous Meeting' (I know it is my favourite word...) when the Pupputmaster and his wife came along. Currently we're having a little party dancing round the TV (Klitschko vs. Brewster) screaming and yelling to the likes of 'Nightmare be thy Name' and 'The Mad Arab'. Bell's ringing, someone's at the bottom of the stairs, must be Missy and 'My Demon'. Hell yeah, it's gonna be a 'Sleepless Night' waiting for a 'Visit from the Dead', waiting for 'THEM'! So happy King Diamond Day!

Damn, I forgot King Diamond-Day. Such things happen in a grandma`s world. The probable reason why I had a hellish sleepless night. So time to draw a fatal portrait TODAY and hoping that "Them" will appear with the delay of a couple of hours. Don't break it on the slippery stairs while I sink in my wheelchair. Happy KD-Day!!!

I remembered King Diamond day, but it was a solemn affair this year, as I was working all afternoon until ten pm. I did however find time for Abigail in it's entirety, around five pm.
Everyone at work whined, but I just cranked the volume and King Billy whined even louder than the numbskulls at work. Ah, as the strains of Black Horsemen serenaded my very ears, I upped the volume to a more acceptable 11.
I am thinking of honoring a different band each month. Next month on 8/8/8 I will celebrate TOOL Day. I need to think of a band for 9/9.
10/10 is already inked in as Manowar Day. After all, don't All Men Play On Ten?
11/11 was going to be Iron Maiden Day as it is Remembrance Day, but I have just discovered SABATON, so I reckon 11/11 is Sabaton Day. I never heard a band write such great music about such important moments in military history. If you never heard if them, check out the songs Rise Of Evil, Back In Command, In The Name Of God, Primo Victoria, Panzer Batallion and Wolfpack for some of the catchiest most anthemic songs this side of Manowar.
Can't fucking wait to catch them at Wacken later this month!
And a happy belated King Diamond Day to one and all!

Saw Sabaton in Sweden and was not as overwhelmed as I was when I first caught 'em on the Edguy tour for "Hellfire Club" a few years ago. They only had out their debut and this sounded great, also the live performance was very energetic. Cool anecdote: my little brother talked to them for a while at the merchandiser after the show and it became pretty easy to get backstage passes to party with them and the edguys (today surely impossible). Well, have to admit that they must have lost some energy on the way, but it always depends on many circumstances. Still banged to "Primo Victoria" and of course "Metal Machine". Manowar day sounds logically, but TOOL? ... I liked their music some years ago and still listen to Anema, Undertow and Lateralus from time to time, but the 8? 9. 9. (9.) - Emergency? Motörday? (for 12 the only thing that comes into my mind is "Twelve O`Clock Somewhere" from Slash's Snakepit; Guitar Heroes Day? ;-))

The TOOL Day thing is rather snortly. The figure eight is a never-ending twisted loop, often used to illustrate wormholes and parrallel universes and alternative realities - themes which I feel tie in with the music and imagery of TOOL. The key is symmetry.
So 8/8/8 seems logical to me as a musician and artist.

See the King with Hetfield an' Co. performing Fate classics: www.rockhard.de/index.php?&smod=p209ozI3plMgo2E1oT9aGJ9xCKWiL2gbLKWxYz5yq3Zhp2uipaEJnJI3GzI3plL=&sm=news&modulogMod=rockhard.news.shortViewNews&=&like_last=&offset=15Plus good news: "Hail to all of you, Now that it's been made official, yes, I will participate in the tribute to "Dimebag" at OZZFest. It's an honor to have been asked to participate, and my back is steadily getting better, definitely good enough for a short appearance, and it couldn't be for a better cause. I live only 7 minutes by car from the soccer stadium where OZZFest takes place, so there is no way in hell I would miss this opportunity to pay tribute to "Dimebag". I do have to say though, that my back is not yet fit to undertake a full King Diamond tour. I know it sounds like I'm saying the same thing over and over 'my back is steadily getting better', but let me assure you all that it is significantly better and really getting stronger and stronger week by week!!! There is nothing I'd rather do than get back on the road, but it has to be for good and not just for a week or two and then find out that we took a stupid chance by doing it too soon. A few other good news: Massacre Records have taken their option for another King Diamond album. Negotiations with Metal Blade Records to extend the King Diamond recording deal has been completed, and are practically ready to be signed. Further, contracts between King Diamond and MERCYFUL FATE, and Metal Blade Records and Massacre Records have been agreed upon and are almost ready to be signed for a double DVD of King Diamond and a double DVD of Mercyful Fate, consisting of mainly never before seen private recordings in very high quality (King Diamond 1986-1990; Mercyful Fate 1982-1984). If all goes well, the King Diamond DVD set might hit the stores before the end of this year and the Mercyful Fate DVD set would probably hit the stores early next year. Another project we've been working on is to create remastered versions of The Spider's Lullabye and The Graveyard, plus Voodoo and House Of God. Andy La Rocque is undertaking this project at his Sonic Train Studio in Sweden, and so far I have heard his version of The Spider's Lullabye and it kicks some serious ass. It was as if I was listening to a brand new album, it sounded exactly like it should have sounded back when it was released (we did not at that time master our albums ourselves, and let me tell you, they suffered by it). For the first time ever, I heard all the things we actually recorded (certain vocal harmonies and guitar overdubs; all the details are there now). In my opinion, this one is gonna be a MUST HAVE. You know I wouldn't say this if it wasn't true. Andy has just told me that the remastered version of The Graveyard is in the mail for my approval. Once I've listened to it, I'll let you know how it turned out. There is another project in the making which I unfortunately cannot speak about yet. If it comes true though, it will be a very big thing for King Diamond/Mercyful Fate. It is not a new Mercyful Fate album or tour, but it is something that could be very big for us. It is more like being a part of someone else's VERY BIG project, and which can only be announced by them. As you can probably see, I have not been lying on my back the entire time since I last wrote to you. Before I finish, I sincerely want to thank you all for the unreal support you give us. You are by far THE BEST!!! Stay Heavy, King."

Happy King Diamond-Day to all of you!!! It's been a little silent round the King in the recent months, but I did an interview with Hank Sherman a few weeks ago and the end of that interview sounded very optimistic: "HH: How are things going in the Bay Area? Any new interesting bands to discover?
Hank: Well the old bands are all very active and we are to busy to get out and check what's going on. *grins*
HH: As a longtime fan I have to use the opportunity to ask about the chances for a Mercyful Fate-reunion in the near future? How is the King? I heard his back is getting better.
Hank: Yes his back is certainly getting better and it all looks much more realistic to do another Mercyful Fate album in the future to come. First we will release the DVD that is set for later this year. So I'm sure you'll see both new King Diamond and Mercyful Fate stuff in the years to come!
HH: Last but not least it would be great if you could assemble a little list of your favourite a) Forbidden and b) Mercyful Fate songs as it is always interesting for the fans to read what the musicians think of their older pieces.
Hank: FORBIDDEN : "Chalice Of Blood" - "Forbidden Evil" - "Off The Edge" - "Infinite" - Twisted Into Form" MERCYFUL FATE : "Evil" - "Black Funeral" - "Desecration of Souls" - "Corpse Without A Soul" - "Doomed By The Living Dead" - "Come To The Sabbath"
HH: Thanks a lot for the chance to prepare this bunch of questions for you. It was an honour for me. The space for the last sentences is reserved for you:
Hank: You're welcome - always a pleasure to get a chance to talk about your band! I'm sure you all will get a good kick listening to Demonica's new Album DEMONSTROUS, let us know what you think!"
So have a nice celebration. I will have - watching of course the German team hopefully going to the finals. Cheerz!
