The main reason why I created this forum was to name and shame all those bands who over the years have canceled gigs for whatever reason. If a band you love and always wanted to see announces a gig, only to pull the rug from right under your feet, then they are inducted into The Room Of Death.
This thread is where you submit the names of those who deserve to dwell there. Remember to state why you think they deserve to be there, by telling your story of the ill-fated gig that never was.

Right then, the inspiration for The Room Of Death is a certain German thrash band.
Dateline: late 1988 Sheffield, England. Hot on the heels of a triumphant Donington show, Iron Maiden are in town promoting their Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son opus.
There is a reason I have no intention of attending this show - the very same night sees the thrash event of the year for me. Two thirds of the unholy trinity in German thrash chose tonight of all nights to spoil us with a double bill of Teutonic overkill. The mighty SODOM and equally mighty DESTRUCTION are set to take the stage in a tiny club called The Locarno, the very same night that demigods Iron Maiden sold out the 3500 capacity City Hall - again!
But we've all been there, done that... you know the story. As much as we all love Maiden, a thrash gig like this on our doorstep is just irresisible. Friends sold their Maiden tickets to be part of this mouthwatering underground mosh-fest. We were there as a solid unit, united in our support for our German idols.
Then the bombshell.... Destruction have fucking canceled.
To say I was gutted would be like saying Jackie Kennedy was slightly miffed at John F's decision to have the roof down as it was a nice day.
But that still left Sodom, who marched on with purpose and delivered a stinging set, even playing a bit longer than usual to try and make up for Destruction's no-show. All credit to Sodom for making this one of my most memorable gigs. And the beer helped a lot also.
This was the beginnings of a familiar pattern as far as Destruction are concerned. From then on they canceled and canceled, and just for good measure, canceled yet again. In all, I would say I've gone, or intended to go to maybe four or five Destruction shows only to find they canceled. And the more I read about them in mags, and more recently on the net, it seems Schmier and co are doing this all over the world.
So I decided there is only one place for these guys - you guessed it - THE ROOM OF DEATH.
Having said that, after nearly twenty years of trying, I finally got to see Destruction in 2005 with Candlemass in London - yes, I had to travel 200 odd miles to see them. Their set was so impressive that it very nearly gave them a free pass out of the Room Of Death, but not quite. We will have to wait and see if they fulfil their promise of performing at Wacken this year, and then maybe, just maybe they will escape the bowels of their prison for the last two decades.
So there you have it. Destruction are the first inductees into the dreaded Room Of Death.
But mark my words, there are many more people who have shared this room over the years, some have escaped, some still languish there. Their names will pop up in due course, I am sure...

HeyHo, great job so far. I like the Wrazzlin' room. Wacken is coming closer Dimension Zero are gonna play (check 'em out before-excellent!), but MENDEED don't appear on the schedule anymore, plus no information if and why the gig is cancelled. Meanwhile, Balingen is just around the corner. Buy the new W.A.S.P.-Cd! Cerrs D.

Oh man, I'm so gutted. Vader are in the Room Of Death... They just canceled Wacken.
They were one of the main attractions for me this year too, AND they were were due to play the W.E.T. stage inside the tent. How fucking intense?
Oh well, I guess that's them getting back at me for never going to see them before, even though they have played the UK on countless occasions.
Damn, I guess that means I am in Vader's Room Of Death...

And shame on Vader, too. I was looking forward as well. Haven't seen them before. Besides Steelheart cancelled Balingen, but due to the fact that they wrote only one good song in their entire carreer - 'Steelheart' - they should not be honoured with a roomofdeath-entrance.
