Rest in Peace to an Old friend that was there for us during our Childhood and our Fathers Childhoods.
Rest in Peace to a friend who helped us kids get fit and to get all our aggression out.
Rest in Peace to an Old friend that sadly went on a little bit longer than should have been allowed to.
Rest in peace now that you have been given the last rites...
Dont be sad for this Old pal but instead rejoice now that he will have a role in a new Healthier lifestyle..
I am of course talking about BOXING .
Boxing has run it's course now that MMA has taken over..
There is No room for the Shady antics of the Dodgy Boxing Promoters of yesteryear(and still, lets admit it).
Boxing is old hat and Antiquated...
Comparing Boxing to MMA is like comparing the first motor car to say a Koeniigsegg(One of the Fastest production cars ever).
Its like comparing a 1950s Computer(size of a Room) to a Modern day Laptop...More memory and faster at a fraction of the size!!
Boxing in its day had its fair share of Superstars..ALI,FOREMAN,KLITCHKO Bros,HEARNS,TYSON ect ect..
But these Names pale when you are a Student of the art of MMA..
Yes its Brutal and Bloody but MMA also has a Beauty that boxing never had and you know all the Corruption has gone so no more worrying about "Did he really lose or did he take a dive"
MMA is a Thinking sport where it is not enough to be good at just one type of Fighting style anymore,These fighters now have to be Masters at many many styles just to be in the mix...
("Leave it all out there and Dont leave it in the Hands of the Judges"..Dana White)
Put all the Best Boxers in theyre Prime against all the Best MMA fighters in theyre prime and you would have a one sided argument!!
MMA Fighters use 4oz gloves as apposed to a Boxers 20oz..
That alone tells a story as how much tougher MMA fighters are to Boxers...3 Minute rounds sound silly to me nowdays....
Falling in Love with MMA and then watching a Boxing Match is like Going to see Slayer circa 1988 and then watching Simply Red the same night....
It would leave a sour taste in ones mouth for sure....
Rest in Peace Boxing Old pal...
"Thanks for the memories but Dont let the door hit you on the heels on the way out either!!!"
The King is Dead,
Long Live the New King
All Hail the Long Reign in Blood(sic!)of MMA....
There is one final thing to say on this matter and that is.....
Only one more step to legitamacy for MMA and that is not far away i feel..
To be made An Olympic Sport...
Boxing really would be in the Death throws then wouldnt it???
