Can't even begin to tell you how crushed I am at this point. Heaven And Hell is and I should imagine always will be my number one album of all time, and Dio is my idol. I say "is" because Dio will never be gone from my mind, as his music has made him immortal. A truly sad day for everyone who ever loved what he gave to the world. For his family, his friends and peers, and all his fans worldwide, my deepest sympathies. Ronnie's music and words will live on forever.

I was walking around the whole day kind of paralysed trying to pick up all the personal memories that will forever go on with Ronnie James Dio's tunes. "Man On The Silver Mountain" and "Rainbow In The Dark" were included on my first self-made mix-cassette back in 86 - the Iron Mix. Me and the other eleven to twelve year old kids played that mix over and over... in our village they had these "Heavy Metal Discos" midddle/ end of the eighties and every night they finally played "Holy Diver" (right before sending the people home with "Stairway To Heaven"!) ... my first guitarrist and I used to do lil acoustic sessions everywhere we stranded and a guitar was in reach (e.g. LA, Ireland, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Bibione, Amsterdam) "Temple Of The King" was one of the killers ... I saw Dio first live on tour with Motörhead back in 91 and the sheer presence and power of his voice in songs like "Man On A Silver Mountain", "Don't Talk To Strangers", "Still I'm Sad" ... made me literally shiver. And I definitely freaked out last year to "Die Young", "Time Machine" or "Falling Off The Edge Of The World". For the Metal scene this is more than a tragedy. This guy was more than just a Metal singer. Dio was the incarnation of Heavy Metal in its best possible way. But I believe if we listen close enough, and I don't wanna sound pathetic, the magic will live on. Born On The Sun.

Well said brother. I had the privilege of seeing Dio twice with his band and once with Heaven And Hell. They are among the highlights of my life. Never had the honour of meeting the great man personally, but I feel I never had to, as he always made a point of making every single soul in the crowd feel a part of him and that really touched me. A truly great loss, but made easier to swallow knowing he no longer suffers and the musical legacy he has left behind.
Check out ther news fader at the top of the home page for a fitting tribute.
Rock in peace Ronnie, wherever you may be. \m/ \m/

The verses appear in a right and solemn way... I agree: he made every fan feel to be part of the whole show in a very personal and special way, just as he knew you. Rock In Peace Ronnie James Dio, the legacy you left will be passed on to the young ones.

Like the new layout very much!!! The diversity even in the colours gives a hint how large the work of Dio is. I re-discovered Strange Highways and Killing the Dragon for me in recent days. I will try to get the Elf-stuff next month.

The song Strange Highways is a doom classic. I made that backdrop myself, so thanks for the positive comments. Did you notice the omission of Dehumanizer though? I only just realised today when I found the album cover saved in the wrong folder on my PC. That is a splendid album too. I must amend it one day.

I totally agree and loved the album from day one. Still remember seeing the first video on Headbanger's Ball (with Vanessa Warwick): "TV Crimes" (Wasn't it Bill Ward who played drums in this one?). I wished they would have included more songs last year, but in the end I was very satisfied with "I" and the awesome "Time Machine". Still lacking Master Of The Moon ...
